Senior Manager/Supervisor

Our client is seeking a skilled Clinical Pharmacy Manager to lead and manage clinical pharmacy programs, ensuring safe and effective drug therapy for patients. This role involves direct involvement in pharmaceutical care, compliance with facility protocols, and mentoring of clinical programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret orders and accurately transcribe or verify them into the pharmacy computer system.
  • Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals with precision.
  • Ensure adherence to facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriate dosing.
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners, suggesting cost-effective therapeutic alternatives as needed.
  • Maintain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges, and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
  • Support participation in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds.
  • Conduct and analyze drug utilization reviews to encourage rational drug therapy and create action plans based on findings.
  • Deliver accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients.
  • Develop, manage, and mentor pharmacy clinical programs such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO transitions, renal dosing, and other programs based on patient needs and clinical guidelines.
  • Lead and oversee the antimicrobial management program (AMP).

Must Have's:

  • B.S. or Pharm.D. required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist.
  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Active Pharmacy Consultant license (or state equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience in the area of focus.

Nice to Have's:

  • Completion of hospital PGY2 or pharmacy specialty residency or fellowship.
  • Specialty BCPS certification.
  • Additional certifications such as FCCP, FASHP.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy management.
  • ACLS certification.


Location: San Antonio, Texas

Salary: $140,000 - $166,000
