4355 -Cytology Medical Technologist

The Cytology Medical Technologist collaborates closely with pathologists, overseeing the preparation and interpretation of pap smears and body fluid specimens. They are responsible for training and supervising staff in cytology procedures and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and budget management. Additionally, they participate in EBUS procedures to ensure proper specimen collection and timely results for physicians. Maintenance of certification accreditation activities is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements:

• Adherence to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
• Alignment of all job responsibilities with the organization's core values, mission, and vision.
• Maintenance of current knowledge in the field through ongoing education and training.
• Attendance at staff meetings, completion of mandatory in-services, and competency evaluations.
• Competency in providing care to patients of all demographics and needs, with appropriate training in age-specific customer service.
• Compliance with safety protocols including the use of protective clothing and equipment.

Must Have's:

• Bachelor's Degree in Cytology (Required)
• 2-3 years of experience in Cytology (Required)
• Cytotechnologist (CT-ASCP) certification (Required)
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze situations and problem-solve effectively.
• Proficiency in grammar, spelling, and comprehension of written and verbal instructions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:

• Works in a well-lit, air-conditioned environment with moderate noise levels.
• May be exposed to limited hazardous substances, body fluids, or infectious organisms.
• Ability to transition between tasks efficiently and maintain composure under fluctuating workloads.
• Occasional periods of high stress and overtime may be required.

Physical Requirements:

• Near-normal vision with the ability to distinguish colors.
• Good manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks/motions.

Physical Demands:

• Occasionally standing, walking, bending/stooping, twisting at waist, and reaching above shoulder level within the shift.

Salary: $25 - $35 /hour
