Join our client's team as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) where you'll play a vital role in conducting tests on patient samples, ensuring accurate and timely results. As an MLT, you'll follow established procedures, maintain laboratory equipment, and uphold quality control measures to contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative testing in a high complexity clinical laboratory, particularly in the chemistry section, using various analyzers and manual methods on specimens such as blood, urine, and other body fluids.
  • Organize work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling, and logging specimens.
  • Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine maintenance and troubleshooting, calibrating equipment, monitoring quality control measures, and performing routine and advanced trouble shooting.
  • Process biological fluids in accordance with established procedures and maintain positive identification of final reports and specimens.
  • Recognize and address instrument malfunctions by troubleshooting and resolving minor problems, performing routine and periodic maintenance, and ensuring all quality control results fall within established control limits.
  • Enter patient results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), record new lots of reagents, and run appropriate quality control prior to releasing patient results.
  • Contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers by following established standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Assist with College of American Pathologists (CAP) CAP surveys as directed.

Must Have's:

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT).
  • Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT.
  • One year of experience.
  • Have an active or able to obtain a Confidential Clearance
  • Need to be available for any shift.

Location: Fort Sam Houston - Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), San Antonio, TX

Schedule: Need to be available for any shift. Seeking a flexible individual available for day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. Medical Laboratory Technicians are required Sunday through Saturday, including federal and training holidays, between 0000 to 2359 hours. Shifts of 8 or 12 hours will be scheduled to meet the average 40-hour work week.
 

Salary: Starting at $27/hr + $4.22*/hr for Health & Wellness
